Very large figural bronze sculpture depicting a panther, wounded by an arrow.
Rare stylized Art Deco panther by Lois Albert Carvin,
who was known to usually create in a more naturalistic style.
He was apparently influenced by the sleek Art Deco styling of the
period when he created this sculpture.
Beautiful, rich dark black patina. Mounted on the original sloped
brown-beige onyx
base.
Signed, 'L. Carvin' and the # 62 on the tail.
This is a very large and heavy
sculpture. Suitable for display on a fireplace mantel, buffet or
sideboard.

Bio: Lois Albert Carvin (1860-1951)
Born in Paris in 1860 and became predominantly known
as an animalier sculptor. The work of Lois Carvin was generally very
naturalistic / realistic.
He studied under Gardet and Fremiet and exhibited at the Paris Salon
from 1894 - 1933.
His latter work concentrated on genre compositions.
Dimensions: 24 1/2" wide, 16" high,
7 3/8" deep.
Condition: In excellent original
condition, patina intact.
Age related fleabites on the marble base.
