Wonderful large decorative Bronze
Statue featuring an athletically built male hunter,
perched in a tree, spear in hand, defending himself against a large
lioness.
Signed in the bronze: F. Focht
Original black porto marble base with carved edge detail.
The bronze statue rests on the
marble base in inset holes
that match up with notches on the
underside of the bronze.
Focht was a French sculptor, born in
1879. Little is known about Focht, however his bronze statues
depicting athletically built males are well known, especially the
statue known as 'the Aviator'.
Overall Dimensions: 41" wide, 17
1/4" high, 6" deep (base). Base only: 25 5/8" wide, 6" deep, 2"
high.
Condition: The original rich
beautiful patina is intact. The original marble base has age
appropriate wear and scratches from being assembled. They are not
visible when the statue is in place.
They can be polished out upon request.
