French Art Deco Tall Figural Female
Statue / Table Lamp
Sculptor: Pierre Le Faguays
Circa 1920's, France
Fabulous French Art Deco nude woman
wearing a draped skirt, holding an illuminated Daum glass vase.
She has a classic short bob haircut with jeweled headband, typical
of the roaring twenties.
Cast in a white spelter metal and finished with the original green
paint that has a wonderful patina.
Well executed, this larger scale
statue shows great attention to detail and
displays LeFaguay's talent for sculpting the female form.
Perfect to adorn a console table, buffet, desk or vanity.
The small
light makes for a nice
nightlight or accent light. (this is not a task light)
The vertical design makes this easy to
place in a
collection of figural nudes, or on her own. Mounted on the original
black porto marble base.
Fayral Signature in the metal, on
back corner of the base.
Fayral was one of the pseudonyms used by famed French sculptor
Pierre Le Faguays.
(Le Faguays also used the name Guerbe) Fayral and Guerbe were
both the family names for his Mother and his Wife.
Le Faguays was born in Nantes, France and became famous for the
originality he gave his dancers, many of which were inspired by the
statues of Tanagra. He gained a medal of honor for his work in
1927.
He was one of Max Le Verrier's best friends and the Le Verrier
foundry made most of his pieces.
