French Art Deco figural female
dancer statue, singing and playing the tambourine.
She has a short bob style haircut and is wearing a one shoulder,
belted greek goddess style dress, with one breast exposed.
She is wearing gladiator style sandals that criss cross and wrap up
above her ankles.
She is standing on one toe, with her left leg raised in dance. Her
right hand holds her tambourine
and her left hand is up above her head in a very carefree manner.
She has a happy expression and appears to be singing.
Cast of a white metal spelter at the
LeVerrier factory. Signed in the round bronze base, Fayral.
Resting atop the original black porto marble base.
Fayral
was one of the pseudonyms used by famed French sculptor Pierre Le
Faguays.
(Le Faguays also used the name Guerbe) Fayral and Guerbe were both
the family names
for his Mother and his Wife. Le Faguays was born in Nantes, France
and became famous for
the originality he gave his dancers, many of which were inspired by
the statues of Tanagra.
He gained a medal of honour for his work in 1927.
He was one of Max Le Verrier's best friends and the Le Verrier
foundry made most of his pieces.

wide (arm to arm), 2 3/4" deep (base).
Marble base only: 2 3/4" wide, 2 3/4" deep, 2" high.
Condition: In excellent original
condition. Age appropriate markings and wear on the marble base.
Remnants of the original protective felt on the underside of the
base.
