Striking and Bold French Art Deco
period Bronze statue depicting a athletically built man
pulling his boat ashore, standing on rocks, fighting a crashing
wave.
Windswept hair and the crashing wave give this piece nice movement.
Original beautiful patina with shades of rich green tones.
Signed in the bronze, "Ouline (artist name) Patrouilleau Editeur,
Bronze, Made in France."
Alexandre Ouline was a fine Art Deco
era sculptor, born in Belgium, working in France.
Ouline worked for a very brief period (1918-1940), making his pieces
highly collectable.
He was known for his fine figural and bust bronze statues.
He was a skilled sculptor that paid great attention to detail and
movement.
Many of his pieces show a fluid motion that give his pieces an added
dimension.
He was equally gifted at depicting the human figure, as he was with
showing animals in their finest form.
A large scale bronze, this was found
without a marble base of any kind.
It does not appear to have ever been attached to a base as there are
no visible screw holes on the underside.
You may opt to have a custom marble or granite base to rest this
wonderful bronze on.
You can have your local marble shop do this, or we can have a base
made for you.
Statue Dimensions: 28" wide, 14
7/8" high, 4" to 6 1/2" deep.
Please keep in mind that if you add a marble or granite base this
will add to the above dimensions.
Suggested Marble base size: 30-32" wide, 8" deep, 1 1/2" high or
more if you desire a stepped base.
Condition: In superb original
condition with the beautiful, original patina intact.
