Art Deco African Elephant and Red
Deer Relief Plaques
Circa 1930's, Probably French

A wonderful set of 2 plaques that
depict the African wildlife, in an Art Deco stylized relief panel,
of cast copper.
They are highly polished with patina intact. Highly dimensional and
sculptural,
great care when into the creation of these fine plaques.
Unfortunately they are unsigned.
African art and culture was a great influence in the Art Deco period
in France.
One plaque depicts a large head on view of the African elephant,
trunk up,
with tusks and ear flaps out, standing in very stylized foliage.
The elephant has always been regarded as a symbol of power,
strength, wisdom, vitality, and longevity.
The second plaque depicts a group of thee Red Deer Stags, from
profile shots,
drinking from a river, with trees in the background.
The Red Deer is known to be the only deer that roams Africa, this
species also roams Europe.
Use these plaques as decorative wall art, panels for custom
furniture, tile inserts in a kitchen of bath.
Only limited by your imagination.
