French Art Deco
Gilded Bergeres / Arm chairs, Pair
Probably Paul Follot
Circa 1920’s, France
Gilded pair of Designer French
Art Deco Upholstered Occasional Chairs.
Carved wood with gesso, skillfully water gilded with 23 carat German gold.
Twisted rope frame detail with large
spheres at the point where the leg and arms meet.
Carved melon
feet that taper and are finished at
the floor with a small sphere finial.
The top back has a
decorative center design with a subtle stylized
floral design,
typical of the roaring 20’s in Paris. Unusual and
elegant design.
The backs have a nice recline that make the chairs very comfortable.
Please note, the original
upholstery had a brass nail head trim that ran along the twisted
rope edges.
